Jira Integration

Connecting Jira Cloud gives Markty's assistant issue-level access to your projects: it can find work with a JQL search, create and edit issues, read and post comments, reassign, move status, and plan sprints. It is chat-only, there is no Jira board inside Markty. The write surface is broad, so the assistant is instructed to check available transitions before moving anything and to confirm before deleting.

What Markty does with Jira

  • JQL and structured search plus bulk fetch, so the assistant finds issues instead of guessing at keys.
  • Full issue lifecycle: create, read, edit, assign, delete, and transition status after checking which transitions the workflow actually allows.
  • Read the discussion, not just write to it: list an issue's comments, then add your own.
  • Project and sprint context: list projects, boards, sprints and versions, create a sprint, move issues into a sprint, and look up users. Issue types and create metadata are read first so new issues use valid fields.

How to connect it

  1. 1Open Integrations in Markty and find the Jira card. Integrations require a paid plan: trial accounts see an upgrade prompt instead of a Connect button.
  2. 2Open the Jira card and read the pre-connect guide. Prerequisites are a Jira Cloud account and access to the projects you want to manage.
  3. 3Click Connect, sign in to Atlassian and approve the requested permissions. The OAuth handoff runs through Composio, our integration provider. You are redirected back and the card switches to Connected.
  4. 4Ask the assistant in chat, for example "show all open bugs assigned to me", "create a Jira task to fix the bug in the signup flow", or "add ABC-123 to the current sprint". Disconnect from the same card at any time.

FAQ

Does this work with Jira Server or Data Center?

The connect guide states Jira Cloud as the prerequisite. We have only verified the Cloud OAuth flow.

Why does the assistant check transitions before changing a status?

Because a Jira transition only succeeds if your workflow allows it from the issue's current state. The integration reads the valid transitions for that issue first, then moves it, rather than failing on an invalid jump.

Can it delete issues?

Yes, issue deletion is in the allowed tool list. The assistant is instructed to confirm with you before any destructive action.

Is there a Jira board or backlog view inside Markty?

No. Jira is chat-only. The Integrations card shows connected status and lets you disconnect.

Will Markty create Jira tickets on its own?

No. There is no scheduled job or trigger for Jira. Every call happens because you asked for it in chat.
